Psychotherapy in Brisbane

Psychotherapy and Art Therapy in South Brisbane, Woolloongabba and Annerley

Most of us want to gain insight into the difficulties that limit our ability to find strength and peace. Most of us want to develop a more meaningful approach to living. Feeling confused and stuck in entrenched patterns of behaviour, feeling empty, meaningless and exhausted can cause psychological pain. Grief and loss, spiritual questioning, creativity issues, self-doubt and self-sabotage, early, midlife and late life transitioning – these, too, are difficulties which can bring on considerable emotional turmoil capable of derailing our contentment with and in life.

Professional Counsellor in Psychotherapy and Art Therapy based in Brisbane

Christine Butler is a registered, professional counsellor based in South Brisbane and a member of the Queensland Counsellor's Association. Her therapeutic orientation is grounded in Jungian psychotherapy and art therapy counselling, available to the people surrounding Brisbane, Woolloongabba and Annerley. She offers both short term and long term counselling for individual adults, children and adolescents.

Christine's Jungian approach to psychotherapy is insight-oriented and focuses on unconscious processes as they manifest in behavioural patterns of an individual. Christine's work is centred around finding ways to deal with and understand difficult experiences and emotions such as anxiety, anger, separation,  grief and loss. Christine works with a wide range of psychological difficulties including post traumatic stress disorder and complex trauma, personality disorders, depression and anxiety disorder

My Approach to Psychotherapy and Art Therapy

At the heart of my psychodynamic and psychotherapeutic approach lies my belief that a crisis is an opportunity for personal growth and change. Distressing psychological experiences can be explored by identifying and clarifying areas of discomfort and stress, accepting emotions, inquiring about past and present issues. I seek to encourage clients to develop their own personal and interpersonal skills, to overcome inner barriers and recognize their inner strength.

I offer a safe and secure place for self-reflection and a place in which issues can be explored. Whether you come with a specific issue or simply have the desire to look deeper into engrained patterns of behaviour, I provide a confidential and non-judgemental environment in which thoughts, feelings and images can surface and be acknowledged.

My deep respect for unfolding psychological processes let you discover the significance behind crisis and confusion. These processes are supported by working on dreams, expressing images in works of art or simply by talking.

I am offering my counselling services in psychotherapy and art therapy from my consulting room in Stones Corner in Brisbane, ideal for local residents from Annerley, Greenslopes, Woolloongabba, and surrounding areas.

Some of the areas I have specialised in are, but not limited to, Anxiety, Depression,  PTSD and Trauma
